Hospitality team hit the streets to raise thousands

04/09/2024

A massive thank you to the 62 runners who took part in Cardiff Hospitality Vs Cardiff 10k for Dreams and Wishes. The inspirational team hit the streets to raise more than £6,000.
The idea for the team started a few years ago with just two people as they "set out to look after the people who look after the people". They decided to run the Cardiff 10K grew with more than 60 people, all who are involved in the Cardiff hospitality, taking part.
One of the organiser's Meg Lewis said: "To everyone who made the day unforgettable: each and every person who ran with us, we can’t thank you enough for being part of this incredible community. I feel so lucky to be surrounded by such amazing people."
One runner spoke of his pride saying: "As a hospitality community, 62 of us undertook the Cardiff 10k. Some had tons of experience, some ran it in Greggs shoes from Primark (a real range of experience there...), almost everyone coming off the back of a busy Saturday service the night before. In spite of all of that, every single person went out and absolutely smashed it.
"I constantly feel honoured to be part of this community. When we first floated the idea, we set a goal of a collective £5000 to raise for Dreams & Wishes, a local children's charity, which we all thought was very aspirational. Not only did we hit that, we've kept going now sitting at around £6k which blows my mind, I'll be honest."
Dreams and Wishes chairman Tony Curtis said: "What an inspirational team of runners. We are extremely grateful for their hard work and support that will go a long way to helping putting smiles on the faces of seriously ill children and their families."
